Why 10Tech
Engineered Advantage – it’s in the name
Carbon fiber’s material strength-to-weight ratio is approximately tenfold greater than steel, hence the name 10TECH. With a specific tensile strength of over 3,500 MPa compared to steel’s ~370 MPa.
Monocoque MTB wheel benefits and features:
- Lightweight carbon wheels make a bike feel snappy and easier to get up to speed
- Carbon rims can generally survive impacts that dent, deform, or flat-spot aluminium rims.
- Flexural compliance optimized for vibration damping and rider comfort
- Lateral stiffness preserving power transfer and cornering precision
- Fatigue resistance engineered for high-cycle durability in varied terrain
- Increased Strength and Durability: The absence of bonded joints reduces failure risks, and continuous fibers enhance impact resistance.
- Reduced Weight: Because no extra materials or adhesives are needed for joints, the overall rim weight is significantly lowered, improving acceleration and handling.
- Optimized Stiffness and Compliance: Tailored fiber orientation allows the rim to be stiff laterally for power transfer and cornering precision, while offering vertical compliance that absorbs shocks and vibrations for rider comfort.
- Improved Performance: Lower rotational mass means quicker acceleration and braking response. In cycling, this translates to faster, more efficient rides.
- Enhanced Ride Quality: The monocoque structure delivers a balance between rigidity and controlled flex that improves traction and shock absorption on rough terrain.
